Reproduction of 4.75 '' revolver in metal and wood, with barrel moving during loading.

The Peacemaker revolver, also known as Single Action Army (SAA), was designed by Samuel Colt in 1873 and was made with different barrel lengths: the short version of 4.75 inches, the shapes plus, 5, 5 and 7.5 inches, or the imposing "Buntline Special", 12 inches.

This weapon was originally used by the US military. However, in a few years, most US citizens have taken one of these revolvers. The fact that he used ammunition of the same caliber as the Winchester M1873 rifle contributed to its popularization as a short weapon in the west of North America in the late nineteenth century.

Curiously, this revolver has received many nicknames. Aside from the mentioned Peacemaker, he is also known as Frontier or Widowmaker, in reference to the ease with which this revolver left widows to the wives of the time.

The film industry has mythologized the "peacemaker" in the westerns of the 40s and 50s, and has partnered with big screen stars like John Wayne or Gary Cooper. So Roosevelt had one with his initials engraved and George S. Patton had used two.
