Miniature reproduction of a metal cannon ammunition cart.
The 1857 Model 12-pounder, nicknamed "Napoleon", was the most popular cannon used during the American Civil War. It represented nearly 40% of the artillery's ammunition and one of the most important pieces of the conflict. The “Napoleon” was widely admired for its safety, reliability and effectiveness, especially at close range.
Civil War or Civil War was a very important event in the history of the United States of America, which took place between 1861 and 1865. The two opposing sides were the forces of the Northern States (the Union) against the newly formed Confederate States of America, integrated by eleven Southern states, which proclaimed its independence.
Four years into the war, Confederate General Robert E. Lee, with his army reduced by casualties and desertions, decided it was best to surrender. On April 9, 1865, a meeting was held with General Ulysses S. Grant to sign the document of surrender to the Confederate Army. President Andrew Jackson declared the war officially over on August 20, 1866.
